Two down, six to go. Blinds. To put it lightly – I hate them. When we moved in here I was given permission by the lovely owners to go ahead and take down all the blinds. So after a couple months of putting off the reconstruction of old curtains into two sets of new ones, I finally got down to business tonight. Woohoo! Check these out. I think these are so cute, even though I may be doing the “bird” thing a little late in the year. (I am sure Spring would have been more apropos – but that is when I had the idea, does that count?)
I guess I’ll give these lovelies two more months or so, then switch to something more fall-ish. I still have six more windows to go, I better not get too far ahead of myself.
Speaking of Fall (my favorite season that just doesn’t come soon enough), should I be thinking of Halloween? I sure don’t think so. Let me explain. I, for some reason, am on the Pottery Barn Kids email list. I received an email from them yesterday announcing they have everything I need for Halloween. Now I am all about planning ahead (though I may not do it all that often) but Halloween is two and a half months away. No thank you! Let me enjoy the season when it comes! Also tonight I overheard a commercial on TV with dear old Santa and his elves are telling us about some Halloween sale, somewhere.
Seriously?
I enjoy the stress-free qualities of Halloween and I’d like to keep it that way. No pressure. Make costumes. Visit pumpkin patches. Crafts. Cookies. Fun stuff. Why must our culture insist on stressing us out?!
Well, anyway. Back to August and the lovely humidity. And on to the next project in line: setting up my sewing area. (I can’t wait!)

They are beautiful! I am so glad to see those birdies are being appreciated…and those darn blinds are gone gone gone…
with love & kisses
Hi RaeAnn,
We just spent our Sunday morning reading your blogs! We would have loved to get to all of them but we have to finish getting ready for church (we started from the most recent and read until the trampoline pictures).
You make life with kids sound so fun and exciting…I can’t wait to start mine! (hahahaha just kidding! I can DEFINITELY WAIT.) But, you do make it sound fun. Those boys must love their mommy and I’m glad to hear Cricket doesn’t want to cut you! hahaha boys are so funny!
We love you and look forward to reading more.

p.s. what blogs do you read??
